Delay Repay with Caledonian Sleeper
Caledonian Sleeper pays Delay Repay when your journey is 30 minutes or more late. If you booked direct, it raises the claim for you. Either way, claims must be made within 28 days of the journey.
At a glance
- Pays from: 30 minutes late at your destination, against the published timetable.
- Claim within: 28 days of the affected journey.
- Where: sleeper.scot, after your trip. Booked direct: automatic. Booked elsewhere: the contact form, with Delay Repay as the subject.
How much
| Late by | Single fare | Return fare | Room supplement |
|---|---|---|---|
| 30 to 59 minutes | 50% | 25% | 50% |
| 60 to 119 minutes | 100% | 50% | 100% |
| 2 hours or more | 100% | 100% | 100% |
These rates are from Caledonian Sleeper's Guest Experience Charter, which dates from 2019. Its help page today says only that you can claim all or part of your ticket cost, so treat the table as a guide. The return column applies to National Rail return tickets; tickets bought direct are sold as singles.
How to claim
Booked on sleeper.scot or through its Guest Service Centre: Caledonian Sleeper processes the claim within 24 hours and emails you to confirm your details. Click the link within 28 days.
Booked through anyone else: fill in the contact form on Caledonian Sleeper's site with Delay Repay as the subject, and send a copy of your ticket as proof of travel. Do not put bank details in the form. It may ask for the original ticket.
How you are paid
Back to your debit or credit card. Caledonian Sleeper cannot compensate a booking paid with American Express. Claims take about 10 working days.
Cancelled trains
If your train was cancelled, you are entitled to a full refund: tickets bought direct go back to the card you paid with, and tickets bought elsewhere are refunded by the seller.
Worth knowing
- Separate compensation for a downgraded room or missing facilities must be claimed within seven days.
- A refused claim can be appealed to the Rail Ombudsman.
Platted keeps the record for you
Platted keeps every journey you take with it for 13 months, with what a claim form asks for: the date, the stations, the booked and actual times, how late, why, and the operator. Each one copies with a tap. When a train arrives late enough to claim, Platted tells you once, then once more a week before the window shuts.
You claim on the operator's own site. Platted does not claim for you, sends the operator nothing and takes nothing from what you are paid.
