Delay Repay with Greater Anglia
Greater Anglia pays Delay Repay when you arrive at your destination 15 minutes or more late, no matter the reason. Your claim must reach it within 28 days of the delay.
At a glance
- Pays from: 15 minutes late at your destination, whatever caused it.
- Claim within: 28 days of the delay.
- Where: greateranglia.co.uk, Delay Repay, online, on a paper form from stations and staff on trains, or by post.
How much
| Late by | Single | Return | Season ticket |
|---|---|---|---|
| 15 to 29 minutes | 25% | 12.5% | 25% of one journey |
| 30 to 59 minutes | 50% | 25% | 50% of one journey |
| 60 to 119 minutes | 100% | 50% | 100% of one journey |
| 2 hours or more | 100% | 100% | 100% of one journey |
Singles and returns are a share of the whole ticket price. For a season, one journey is a tenth of a weekly, a fortieth of a monthly and 1/464th of an annual. Greater Anglia calls its table a guide; the season column applies the same bands to one journey's value.
How to claim
Online through Greater Anglia's claim form. Or pick up a paper form at a staffed station or from staff on the train, or print one, and post it to Freepost GREATER ANGLIA CUSTOMER RELATIONS, which is the full address.
If the journey was not with Greater Anglia, its form says which company to contact, and it passes the claim on and tells you who has it. Claiming from the company that ran the late train is faster.
Season ticket holders can open a Delay Repay account, which saves the ticket and your details so each claim takes less typing.
What the form asks for
- The ticket. A mobile ticket: its reference number. Contactless: your TfL contactless statement showing the journey.
- Smartcard: tap in and out every time; it speeds up the claim.
- Do not send images of passports, bank cards, driving licences or bank statements.
How you are paid
PayPal, bank transfer, back to the card you paid with, or Rail Travel Vouchers, online or on paper. You can also donate it to Samaritans. Greater Anglia pays within 14 days of agreeing a claim.
Worth knowing
- Lateness is measured against the planned, advertised timetable, so compensation is not usually paid during planned engineering or when replacement buses run.
- Claims are not normally accepted if you were told about the delay before you travelled.
- If you choose not to travel because of disruption, hand the ticket in for a refund instead.
- To appeal, use the link on Greater Anglia's page with your claim reference (it starts GA/DR) and your email or postcode. After that, call 0345 600 7245, and then the Rail Ombudsman.
Platted keeps the record for you
Platted keeps every journey you take with it for 13 months, with what a claim form asks for: the date, the stations, the booked and actual times, how late, why, and the operator. Each one copies with a tap. When a train arrives late enough to claim, Platted tells you once, then once more a week before the window shuts.
You claim on the operator's own site. Platted does not claim for you, sends the operator nothing and takes nothing from what you are paid.
